Assessment Description Students are required to submit weekly reflective narratives throughout the course that will culminate in a final, course-long reflective journal due in Topic 10. The narratives help students integrate leadership and inquiry into current practice. This reflection journal also allows students to outline what they have discovered about their professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses, and additional resources that could be introduced in a given situation to influence optimal outcomes. Each week students should also explain how they met a course competency or course objective(s). In each week’s entry, students should reflect on the personal knowledge and skills gained throughout the course. Journal entries should address one or more of the areas stated below.  In the Topic 10 graded submission, each of the areas below should be addressed as part of the summary submission. While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Reflective journals are a common tool used in education to encourage students to reflect on their learning experiences and to promote critical thinking and self-awareness. In this assignment, students are required to submit weekly reflective narratives throughout the course and compile a final, course-long reflective journal in Topic 10. The purpose of these narratives is to help students integrate leadership and inquiry into their current practice and to provide an opportunity for self-reflection.

Throughout the course, students will be asked to reflect on their professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses, and identify additional resources that may be beneficial in a given situation to achieve optimal outcomes. By regularly reflecting on these aspects, students can gain a deeper understanding of their own abilities and areas for improvement.

Each week, students will also need to explain how they have met a course competency or course objective(s). This allows students to connect their learning experiences to specific learning outcomes, demonstrating their understanding and application of the course material.

In each week’s journal entry, students are encouraged to reflect on the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the course. This could include discussing any new concepts or theories they have learned, reflecting on their own experiences and how they relate to the course material, or identifying any challenges they have encountered and how they have overcome them.

The final submission in Topic 10 should address all the areas covered in the previous journal entries. It should serve as a comprehensive summary of the student’s learning journey throughout the course, highlighting key insights, personal growth, and any changes in their professional practice.

While APA style is not required for the body of this reflective journal, students are expected to present their thoughts and reflections in a clear and organized manner. This includes using proper grammar, coherent sentence structure, and logical flow of ideas. In addition, any in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, demonstrating the ability to accurately attribute sources and support arguments with evidence.

In summary, the purpose of this assignment is to engage students in reflective thinking and self-assessment. By regularly documenting their experiences, students can deepen their understanding of the course material, develop self-awareness, and identify areas for further growth and improvement. The final reflective journal serves as a culmination of these reflections, providing a comprehensive overview of the student’s learning journey throughout the course.
